Veterans Commission
- Term - 3 years
- Three members shall be a United States veteran or reservist involved in any local organization focused on serving U.S. veterans or active duty U.S. Military
- One member shall be from American Legion Post Number T.H.B. #187
- One member shall be from the City of Elmhurst
- One member shall be from the Elmhurst Park District
- One member shall be from Unit School District 205
- One member shall be the president of the Student Veterans of America
- Elmhurst Chapter (ex-officio, voting member)
- Of the remaining members, one may be a clergyman selected from a church, synagogue or temple located within the corporate limits of the City and the others may be representatives of local organizations that serve military-affiliated individuals
- Not less than three members shall be military-affiliated individuals (age 18 or older)
- Council consent needed
Meetings
As needed at City Hall conference room #1 at 4:00 p.m.
- Posted 48 hours in advance.
The Commission shall be responsible for the following:
- Perpetual maintenance and oversight of the Veterans Memorial
- Providing for property damage insurance coverage for the Veterans Memorial
- Coordination of activities at the Veterans Memorial
- Recommending and participating in fund-raising activities to fund the duties of the Commission as set forth herein through the Veterans Memorial Account established by subsection (f) hereof
- Such other duties as the City Council may direct
