What is the scope of work done by Street Division?: This division is responsible for routine roadway maintenance such as pothole repairs, patching, and crack filing, correction of trip hazards, repair of storm drains, sign and pavement marking installation, street sweeping, providing block party barricades, maintenance of street furniture in the Central Business District, and response to heavy rain and snow events on City owned roadways and parking lots.

3. How many miles of streets are in Elmhurst?: About 150 miles of streets are maintained by the City: 125 miles are asphalt or chip seal, and 25 miles are concrete. An additional 24 miles of streets in the City are maintained by the state or county.

4. What is the general condition of streets in Elmhurst?: Generally fair to good due to a consistent and aggressive maintenance plan, which includes asphalt rejuvenation treatments, crack filling, and pavement patching.

5. How often is resurfacing done?: The lifespan of an asphalt street can vary greatly depending on traffic loads and other environmental factors. If the City resurfaces five miles of asphalt roadway annually, a street can be repaved about every twenty years on the average. Concrete streets are repaired as necessary.

11. How often are the Business District's swept?: The Central Business District, Spring Road and South York Business Districts are swept weekly during the sweeping season. City parking lots are swept monthly.
