Baxter & Woodman Natural Resources, LLC (BWNR) has been retained by the City to perform a controlled burn located near the Elmhurst Water Reclamation Facility. Controlled burns are a standard maintenance practice for natural landscaping areas for efficiently removing unwanted plant species. BWNR has a certified prescribed burn manager in charge of the burn and local fire departments will be notified the morning of the burn to ensure the utmost safety.
Controlled Burn Location – Elmhurst Water Reclamation Facility
The controlled burn area is located along Salt Creek just to the east of the Elmhurst Water Reclamation Facility as highlighted in the figure below. The area is bordered to the east by Salt Creek, and to the west, north and south by the Water Reclamation Facility.
Schedule
BWNR is planning to perform the burn within the next week once weather conditions are determined to be safe and favorable, currently estimated to be March 20th or 21st . The burn is expected to take no more than 6 hours and will begin at approximately 10 a.m. Weather conditions will be closely monitored throughout the burn.
