[ARCHIVED] UPDATE ON POWER LOSS AND DAMAGE FROM JUNE 13th STORM

COE-Logo-Full-Color-Standard-200

Update: 6/14 @3:17 pm

99.7% of power in our area has been restored.

The City of Elmhurst is working toward clean-up and restoration of damage from the storm on June 13th. As of this morning, approximately 400 of Elmhurst residents are without power. ComEd is working around the clock to restore energy to affected customers.

Public Works crews are clearing roadways, sidewalks, and other public safety hazards. General clean-up of all parkway tree damage will continue after dangerous safety conditions are eliminated. Crews are working with ComEd to remove trees that are tangled in power lines. Crews cannot remove these trees until ComEd has de-energized the power circuit. Any resident that sees trees tangled in power lines or exposed power lines should dial 911 and stay away from the area.

Residents are asked to place private property tree debris in the parkway for pick-up on your normally scheduled Republic Services collection day. Tree material should be bundled and cut. Bundles must be no heavier than 50 pounds, four feet in length, and may not include branches more than four inches in diameter. Two bundles may be placed at the curb per week without yard waste stickers. Additional bundles require one yard waste sticker per bundle. Please note that tree material too large for Republic Services to pick-up, or hauled out too late for your scheduled pick-up day will require a private contractor to dispose of the tree waste.

ComEd continues to work towards restoring power to all of Elmhurst. Many traffic signals are still out. The City is working closely with our ComEd representative to ensure that power is restored in our community as soon as possible. Please continue to track ComEd’s website for outages and updates: https://www.comed.com/
