Mayor's Statement on Recent Crime Trends
At the Elmhurst City Council Meeting on September 20th, Mayor Levin made a statement regarding recent criminal activity in the Elmhurst area.
Although these crime trends affect all suburbs and are not unique to Elmhurst, we continue to direct our full attention to protecting our community. This includes working in coordination with surrounding communities and federal agencies as well as continuing with our investment in technology to alert us when stolen cars and cars associated with criminal activity are entering the area.
What can you do as an Elmhurst Community Member?
- Keep your eyes open. Do not hesitate to call 9-1-1 if you see suspicious activity, and do not be embarrassed to call.
- If you have a doorbell camera, please register for the Elmhurst Police Department Video Sharing Partnership Program. The Police will not monitor your camera. This program lets the Elmhurst Police Department know that you have this technology and they will ask you to check your own video if a crime occurs in your area.
- Register for CodeRED. This is the system the City uses to alert our community of an incident that requires residents to take action or be on heightened alert.
