The award winning Elmhurst Police Department Neighborhood Roll Call season has come to a close. This summer, the department held 29 Neighborhood Roll Call events, with nearly 1,000 residents in attendance. Events were held on Tuesday & Thursday evenings at locations across all seven wards of Elmhurst. The average attendance at each event was just over 30 people, with the largest one drawing a crowd of 86.
Since the inception of this program in 2014, Elmhurst Neighborhood Roll Call events have brought in nearly 6,000 attendees. The Neighborhood Roll Call program provides an excellent opportunity for residents to meet face-to-face with the police officers who patrol their neighborhoods. These events gave residents a chance to address their concerns while also learning about crime trends in the area and crime prevention.
The Neighborhood Roll Call program also gave our officers an opportunity to share information on the following local programs that help prevent crime and solve cases:
- Lock It or Lose It
- Code Red
- Smart 911
- Video Sharing Partnership
- Elmhurst Connect
The Neighborhood Roll Call program not has strengthened the relationship between police officers and residents. The program has also been adopted by several neighboring communities.
Last but not least-- The Neighborhood Roll Call program allowed some of our youngest residents to meet and interact with our officers, take photos, and get a junior police badge. Neighborhood Roll Call 2021 was another great year of community partnership for a safer Elmhurst!
