NOTICE OF OPEN HOUSE PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE OVER ROUTE 83 & YORK/BUTTERFIELD INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS
You are invited to attend an open house held by the City of Elmhurst, concerning two upcoming projects. The first is the proposed construction of improvements at the intersection of York Street and Illinois Route 56 (Butterfield Road). The project will lengthen the eastbound right turn lane and westbound left turn lane along Butterfield Road to improve operations and decrease delays at the intersection. The improvements will also consist of replacing and modernizing the traffic signal equipment, ADA improvements, and extending the sidewalk along the south side of Butterflied Road to Kirk Avenue. The second is the proposed construction of a new pedestrian and bicycle bridge over Illinois 83 connecting to the Cricket Creek Forest Preserve and the Salt Creek Trail. The project will construct an 8 to 10-foot wide path from West Avenue along the south side of Fay Avenue, connecting to a new single-span, 14-foot wide bridge over Illinois 83 located approximately 1,700 feet north of the North Avenue intersection and 500 feet south of the entrance to the Cricket Creek Forest Preserve parking lot. The project will be located within the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County’s Cricket Creek Forest Preserve and on right-of-way owned by the City of Elmhurst.
