We have received several inquiries about significant police activity in the S/W area of Elmhurst surrounding Eldridge Park on December 18th.
Elmhurst Police were notified shortly after 7:00 PM on Friday, December 18th of an at risk missing elderly male who suffers from several medical conditions and walks with a cane. There was a significant presence of first responders in the surrounding area completing systematic searches that involved multi-agency coordination.
After extensive searching, first responders were able to locate the missing man in the area of Eldridge Park around 1:00 AM. After being located, his core body temperature was found to below and he was transported by Elmhurst paramedics to the Elmhurst Hospital for treatment. We are grateful he was able to be found due to the outside temperature and time that had passed.
We would like to thank the ElmhurstFire Department, the Elmhurst Emergency Services and Disaster Coordinator, DuPage County Sheriff's Office for their assistance with a bloodhound, DuComm dispatch center, and the West Chicago FireDepartment in conjunction with the West Chicago Search and Rescue Strike Team for their use of a drone and additional K-9 search teams. All first responders on scene appreciate the cooperation and concern we received from residents in the community!
