City of Elmhurst Water Distribution Crews will begin the annual fire hydrant flushing program on Tuesday September 8th. Crews will flush and inspect nearly 2,400 City owned fire hydrants during the course of program. The flushing program is divided into 4 sections, north to south. The hydrant flushing process takes four weeks and will be completed by October 2nd. 

Hydrant flushing could cause a temporary discoloration of the water as water mains are scoured by high velocity water. It is recommended to not do laundry during days flushing is occurring in your area. Normal flushing will occur between the hours of 7:00am to 3:30pm Monday through Friday during this project.
