[ARCHIVED] Mayor announces his appointment of new Aldermen

Mayor Morley appointed new aldermen to vacant seats in the 4th and 1st Wards at the City Council Meeting held on Monday, July 20, 2020. While many applicants were qualified and eligible for the vacant positions, City Council unanimously approved his recommendation to appoint Jennifer Veremis as alderman in the 1st Ward and Brian P. Cahill as alderman in the 4th Ward.

Longtime resident, Jennifer Veremis will hold the 1st Ward Aldermanic seat after the resignation of Mark Sabatino. Veremis is a seasoned Elmhurst business owner and community advocate who is passionate about contributing to the vibrancy of Elmhurst. Veremis serves on the City Centre Board of Directors and is a strong advocate for small businesses. She is also a certified business coach and active volunteer, leader, and trainer for the USO of Illinois.

“I am eager to contribute and collaborate to help our city as we weather our current and future challenges. I will treat my new position with the integrity and dignity the residents deserve." states Veremis.

18-year resident, Brian P. Cahill will take the vacant 4th Ward seat after the resignation of Kevin York. Cahill exhibits leadership as President & CEO of a business and has experience in both the medical and manufacturing fields. He is an active community member who volunteers on youth sports teams and through his church parish. Cahill believes that his leadership skills provide him with the ability to listen, reason and problem solve in order to make decisions based on a variety of factors.

“I feel that my experience provides me with a well-rounded background that I can apply to continue to make our City a wonderful place to live and raise a family,” states Cahill.

Veremis and Cahill will serve as Alderman until the next election in Spring 2021.

Mayor Morley states, “I believe both Jennifer and Brian will do an outstanding job in representing their wards and I am thankful for their commitment in serving the residents of Elmhurst in this capacity.”
