The City of Elmhurst is aware of a peaceful protest that was originally organized tomorrow, June 2nd at 4:00 pm. After discussing the event with the City of Elmhurst and Elmhurst Park District Staff, the organizers of this event have decided to postpone the peaceful march and vigil to Tuesday, June 9th at 4pm in hopes that the broader criminal behavior that we are alerted to has subsided. The event will begin and end in Wilder Park at 220 S. Cottage Hill (the former site of the Lizzadro Museum) and will take place from 4-4:30pm.
During this extremely troubled time in our nation’s history, the City of Elmhurst, Elmhurst Police Department, and Elmhurst Park District are committed to working diligently with peaceful protesters to ensure that our community has the ability to express their First Amendment rights. We ask that anyone attending this event express these rights in a safe and peaceful manner. The safety of our residents, officers and the community we serve is our top priority.
We continue to have an increased police presence and work with community members to ensure safety during this time. We are encouraging residents to call 9-1-1 if they observe or are alerted to any suspicious activity.
