Elmhurst Police have received numerous calls reporting suspicious activity in our area. Officers are investigating a robbery to the T-Mobile store on St. Charles and Route 83. At approximately 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 31st officers responded to the report of retail theft. It was reported that approximately 12 offenders entered the store and broke the locked door leading into the back room. They then forcefully entered a back room and took boxes filled with merchandise. The offenders fled the scene prior to the arrival of officers.
Due to the nature of the evolving regional situation, select businesses have been advised to close in the evening out of an abundance of caution for the safety of their employees and customers.
Residents are encouraged to pay attention to their surroundings. Law enforcement has seen a rise in this criminal behavior in the evening hours, therefore residents are advised to stay home in the evenings if possible.
We will continue to communicate with the public when appropriate. Updates will be shared as they become available on the City of Elmhurst Facebook page as well as the City’s website. Residents can sign up for community alerts by visiting the Elmhurst.org.
Community members witnessing any suspicious or unusual activity should call 9-1-1.
