Restaurants, Retail and Fitness on target to re-open May 29th
City of Elmhurst prepares plans to support re-opening
Governor Pritzker announced today that Phase 3 of the Restore Illinois Plan will also include the opening of outdoor restaurant dining with certain safety limitations. Fitness providers will be allowed to offer one-on-one training and outdoor fitness classes in groups of up to 10 participants. Retail stores across all segments can open in Phase 3 with state issued guidelines. The state plans to release these guidelines by Friday, May 22nd. The City of Elmhurst is on target to move from Phase 2 to Phase 3 by May 29th.
The City of Elmhurst continues to work with local business owners to develop a plan that will be appropriate for Elmhurst. Finalized plans will be issued within the next week, incorporating the guidelines for re-opening as set by the State. Plans include but are not limited to opportunities for fitness providers to use public property and/or to partner with private commercial property owners to hold outdoor fitness classes, expansion of sidewalk cafes (without fencing) for restaurants, and the ability for restaurants to expand seating into private parking lots with review and approval.
