Elmhurst Police Investigate overnight auto theft
Elmhurst Police are investigating an auto theft that occurred on January 23, 2020 at 3:00 a.m. in the 700 block of S. Kent.
Police believe that the subject entered an unlocked car parked in the driveway and activated the remote garage door opener. The offender then entered the garage and unlocked a car that was parked in the garage. The offender was able to start the car using the key-fob that was left inside of the vehicle. The offender took the home owner’s car and fled the scene traveling S/B York Rd near Brush Hill.
The western suburbs has experienced a series of burglary to auto where offenders are targeting unlocked cars parked overnight. Police are reminding residents to always lock their car doors and never leave keys or a key-fob inside of their car.
