Madison Early Childhood Center-Detention Basin Turf Maintenance

Elmhurst, IL - Last week the City of Elmhurst contractors completed field repairs to the Madison Early Childhood Center detention basin dual-use facility. The repairs included tilling, fine grading and soil prep of the existing grounds and installation of thick-cut rolled sod. The sod is now being irrigated temporarily to promote establishment. The City worked with the School District and the American Youth Soccer Organization to determine the best time to make these improvements. For the next several weeks, the field will be closed for all use to allow the turf to properly establish. This basin was constructed with the cooperation of School District 205 and provides stormwater storage of 6.25 acre feet and flood relief benefits to area residents.
