Elmhurst Police are investigating a shooting incident that has occured in the parking lot of Elmhurst Hospital. The victim has been removed to the emergency room for treatment and there is no longer a threat to others. There is limited access to the emergency room parking area. This incident remains under investigation.

Elmhurst Police investigating shooting incident at Elmhurst Hospital – latest update
Elmhurst, IL- Elmhurst Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred in the parking lot of Elmhurst Hospital on Wednesday, October 2, 2019.
At approximately 7pm on Wednesday, October 2nd, police responded to a “man with gun” situation in the west parking lot of Elmhurst Hospital after a woman suffering from a gunshot wound entered the emergency room. Police arrived at the scene within minutes and found a man in the west parking lot in a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was brought into the emergency room by Elmhurst Fire Department Paramedics for treatment and died a short time later. The woman initially told police that her father had shot her and then shot himself in the hospital parking lot.
The male, 73 year old Robert Shek, resided in the 300 block of south Rex in Elmhurst, IL.
The female, 44 year old Imelda Shek, has been transported to Loyola hospital and is undergoing treatment.
During the course of the response, the hospital was briefly placed on lockdown to ensure the safety of the patients and staff. The incident was contained to the parking lot of the hospital and the lockdown was quickly lifted and routine operations resumed.
This incident remains under investigation.
