Suspect in Custody for Attempted Residential Burglary in South Elmhurst

Elmhurst Police are investigating an overnight attempted residential burglary in the 900 block of Euclid and 100 block of W. Van Buren.

On August 26, 2019 at 1:30 a.m. police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 800 block of Washington. Responding officers discovered a parked and not occupied stolen vehicle in a driveway. As officers were searching the area on foot, they discovered a male/white, early 20’s wearing a white shirt and black pants. As officers tried to question him he fled on foot. Officers established a perimeter and requested a K-9 from Wood Dale. Unfortunately, they were not able to locate him at that time. It was learned that several attempts were made to enter residential homes in the 900 block of Euclid & 100 block of W. Van Buren.

The suspect was subsequently taken into custody at 8:25 a.m. in Villa Park, following a foot chase by Elmhurst police officers. The suspect has been transported to Elmhurst Police Headquarters for processing. This is an active and ongoing investigation and formal charges are pending at this time.
