Subject: St. Charles Road Bridge Improvement Project
Elmhurst, IL - The Village of Villa Park will be completing improvements as a part of its St. Charles Road Bridge Improvement Project over the next several months. This project consists of the rehabilitation of the St. Charles Road Bridge over Salt Creek. The project is the culmination of efforts to improve the existing bridge, which had weight restrictions posted in 2014 and received emergency repairs in 2017, both a result of its deteriorated condition. The project is being funded in part by an Illinois Special Bridge Program grant, with the Village of Villa Park, the City of Elmhurst, and the State of Illinois providing funding for the remainder of project costs.
Preliminary construction efforts, including the installation of some traffic control and the mobilization of materials and equipment, are already underway. Full construction efforts are expected to begin on Monday, July 22, 2019.
St. Charles Road at the bridge will be reduced to one lane in each direction for the duration of construction. Motorists are strongly encouraged to use alternate routes. The Salt Creek Greenway Trail that passes underneath the bridge will be completely closed for the duration of construction. A detour route for the trail will be posted.
The contractor for this project is Rausch Infrastructure, LLC, of Des Plaines, Illinois. The construction engineer is V3 Companies, Ltd., of Woodridge, Illinois. All questions and comments regarding this project should be directed to the Village of Villa Park Engineering Division at (630) 834‑8505. We thank the businesses, residents, and public in advance for their patience during the upcoming work. Additional information is available on the project page on the Village website at https://www.invillapark.com/573/St-Charles-Road-Bridge-Improvement-Proje.
