The Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) informed the City of Elmhurst of track repairs to improve the railroad crossing at Myrtle Avenue. The repairs will require closure of the crossing for about 10 business days. The scope of the project includes removing a track and rebuilding the crossing. The northernmost rail will be removed; thus, allowing for a smoother transition between the tracks and road. The vehicular crossing will also be rebuilt to improve accessibility across the tracks at Myrtle Avenue.
The crossing will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic starting on Tuesday, September 11 through September 21 (weather permitting). A detour will be posted.
