The Elmhurst Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred at 9:10 p.m. on September 25, 2017 at the intersection of North Ave. and Berteau Ave. in Elmhurst.  On that date, Elmhurst Police and Fire Departments responded to the scene and determined a motorcycle was involved in a collision with a sport utility vehicle.  The motorcyclist, Mr. Ivanny Mendez-Perez, age 28 of Berwyn, Illinois suffered trauma in the traffic crash and transported to Edward Elmhurst Hospital by paramedics.  Mr. Mendez-Perez was pronounced deceased at the hospital.  The driver of the sport utility vehicle stopped after the collision and remained at the scene.  

The Elmhurst Police Department is conducting an ongoing investigation of the traffic crash with the assistance of the DuPage County Accident Reconstruction Team (DUCART), the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, and the DuPage County Coroner’s Office.  No charges have been filed in this matter as the traffic crash is still under active investigation at this time.
