Elmhurst, IL — The City of Elmhurst has hired contractor “Sheridan Plumbing & Sewer of Bedford Park, IL”, who will begin cleaning and video inspecting storm sewers in select areas of Elmhurst in the upcoming months, weather permitting.
This annual project is a planned approach to minimize storm sewer backups and blockages by root-cutting and/or flushing city-owned sewer pipe. This project began in 2016, and each year focuses on a different area in Elmhurst. The project’s goal is to clean all sewer lines within the city on a rotational basis. As part of the cleaning process, each pipe segment and manhole will be evaluated with regard to structural condition and hydraulic capacity. The evaluation will be used to also assist in allocation of available funds for repair and maintenance of the storm sewer collection system. Attached you will find the 2017 Storm Sewer Cleaning Project Map. Crews will begin cleaning in Area #4 and will work their way North to areas 5, 6, and 7.
