[ARCHIVED] Elected Officials Sworn in at May 1 City Council Meeting

Elmhurst City Council 2017 - 2019

A number of elected officials took their oaths of office at the City Council meeting on Monday, May 1, 2017. Those who were sworn in included Mayor Steve Morley, City Clerk Patty Spencer, Treasurer Elaine Libovicz, and Council Members Marti Deuter (1st Ward), Norman Leader (2nd Ward), Michael Bram (3rd Ward), Kevin York (4th Ward), Tina Park (5th Ward), Jim Kennedy (6th Ward), and Michael Brennan (7th Ward).

Mayor Morley, re-elected for his 2nd term as mayor, was sworn in by Clerk Spencer. Mayor Morley then swore in all 9 elected officials, 7 of which were re-appointed from their previous term.

 

New to Elmhurst’s City Council includes 5th Ward Alderman, Tina Park  and 7th Ward Alderman, Michael Brennan. 

 

ABOUT TINA PARK:AltTextTina has been an Elmhurst resident for 13 years. She grew up in Streamwood, Illinois and attended the University of Chicago where she earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Mathematics and a Masters in the Art of Teaching Mathematics. She has held a profession in human resources and talent recruitment, as well as teaching mathematics.

 

Tina has been married to her husband Adam Park for 22 years and has four children, Sophia, Josie, Aaron, and Caroline. Tina has been very active in the District 205 schools, organizing events that bring the community together and assisting in teaching in the

classrooms whenever possible.

 

She is very active in her neighborhood with organizing block parties, teaching kindness & values in religious education, and coaching basketball through the YMCA. Her other interests include running, learning to play the Ukulele, and traveling.

 

With all four kids in school full-time, Tina is at a point where she can start a new endeavor and feels very proud to represent Elmhurst and the 5th Ward. She is looking forward to being a positive advocate for the neighborhood, residents, and businesses, and giving back to the Elmhurst community, which means so much to her family.

 

ABOUT MICHAEL BRENNAN:AltTextElmhurst resident for 23 years, Mike is excited to serve Elmhurst as alderman of the 7th Ward with the simple goal of insuring that Elmhurst remains a terrific place to live for all current and future residents.

 

Mike has been married to his wife Kathy Morin Brennan for 23 years. One of the best decisions made in their lifetime was moving to Elmhurst to raise their four children – Callie, Sam, Greta, and John. Great residents, schools and parks were the reasons to move to Elmhurst.

He is a Senior Director at Workday. Workday is a software company based out of Pleasanton CA, however Mike is responsible for consulting for the central region of the United States. Mike has been in the consulting business for 30 years starting with Andersen Consulting (Accenture) in 1987.

 

Mike grew up in small town in Indiana (Kendallville), graduated from East Noble High School and is a proud graduate of Purdue University where he got a Bachelor of Science in Business and played baseball.

He enjoys all sports and has enjoyed coaching his kids in basketball and baseball. He’s been an Elmhurst Baseball & Softball League board member for the past 8 years and is an active member of the Visitation Father's Club, raising money for Visitation School. During the years he lived in Chicago, Mike was a member of the Chicago Jaycees and served a term as President.

 

Mike looks forward to serving the 7th Ward, will listen to the residents, represent their concerns and work to address them in the best possible way. Public safety, flood abatement, thriving commerce and common sense city growth represent his interests and priorities.
