The Elmhurst Police Department is announcing an Open House to recruit for their youth Police Explorer program on Monday, April 24, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the Elmhurst Police Station (125 E. First Street, Elmhurst).
The Police Explorer program is a youth based program similar to boy scouts or girl scouts designed for males and females ages 14 through 21. Members learn about careers in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice. This program provides excellent opportunities for young adults to gain knowledge about all aspects of law enforcement and to be able to work closely with their local law enforcement agency.
Members participate in events such as: police ride-alongs, explorer competitions, community service, character development, physical fitness, as well as learning good citizenship. Elmhurst Police Explorers place a large emphasis on youth leadership and responsibility. Graduates of the program retain skills, confidence, and professionalism that are beneficial to their future endeavors. There have been many successful alumni who have gone on to be law enforcement professionals throughout the country.
The Open House is a great opportunity for anyone wishing to join or learn more about the program. The Elmhurst Police invite both prospective members and their parents to attend the open house meeting on April 24th. For more information, please visit www.ElmhurstPoliceExplorers.com
