Elmhurst Police report the arrest of the offender in a case of Aggravated Battery. The arrest resulted from a report of abuse by an employee involving a disabled adult victim at an adult group home located on the 100 block of South Monterey Street in Elmhurst on Wednesday, January 18, 2017.
Management of the group home, operated by UCP Seguin, became aware of the incident when they were presented with video showing a group home employee striking a seated disabled adult victim several times. Management promptly reported the incident to Elmhurst Police who responded to the home. The victim and offender were located at the residence. The victim was transported to a local hospital for examination as a precaution. Officers transported the offender to the Elmhurst Police Station.
Detectives and officers the Elmhurst Police Department conducted an investigation and alerted Illinois Adult Protective Services and the Illinois Department of Healthcare to the incident. Subsequent to the investigation, offender Lasonya T. Butler, 43 years of age, of the 900 Blk. of N. Drake Ave., Chicago, Illinois was charged with one count of Aggravated Battery due to the victim’s disabled status. Butler was transported to the DuPage County Jail for arraignment.
