[ARCHIVED] The Elmhurst Police Department Announces A Drug Take-Back Day on December 3, 2016

DRUG-TAKEBACK-DAY-IMAGE.jpg

The Elmhurst Police Department will be holding a prescription drug take-back day on Saturday, December 3, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the West parking lot next to the police station.  Officers will be on-hand in the parking lot during those hours to collect expired, unused or unwanted prescription drugs for safe destruction.

Unused and/or expired prescription medications are a public safety issue and can also lead to accidental poisoning, abuse, and/or overdose. The non-medical use of prescription drugs is one of the most common forms of drug abuse in America, mainly by teenagers, who take them from the home medicine cabinets of family and friends. Unused drugs that are flushed into toilets or thrown into the garbage are also environmental hazards as they contaminate the water supply.

Please check your home for any unwanted prescription medications, which can be dropped off conveniently at the Elmhurst Police Station on December 3rd.  Please note that if you are unable to drop off unwanted prescription drugs on the Take-Back Day, you may drop them off at any time in the prescription drug collection box located in the police department lobby. For more information, please contact the Elmhurst Police Department at (630) 530-3050.
