To help ensure Elmhurst continues to have a vibrant competitive downtown and multi-model transit system, the City is requesting input from residents, the business community, Metra commuters, and others who have a vested interest in the City’s future. All are invited to take a survey to provide vital feedback as the City works with the professional design team of CDM Smith and KMI to determine appropriate improvements to the Elmhurst Metra Station. This is an important process, as you can help us identify the station’s strengths, opportunities and future needs from your unique perspective.
The Elmhurst Metra Station was last updated in the 1980’s and serves an average of approximately 2,300 weekday boardings. The facility currently consists of a depot building with a ticket agent office, waiting room, coffee shop and public restrooms located on the inbound side of the tracks. An open sided shelter is located along the inbound platform east of the existing station and a shelter/pedestrian underpass access area is located on the outbound side of the tracks. The proposed project would include the renovation and/or reconstruction of the station, platforms and facility ADA improvements.
Anyone with interest in the Elmhurst Metra Station improvements is encouraged to take the Metra Station Improvement Survey.
