[ARCHIVED] City Prepares for Predicted Storm Event

weather_alert.jpg

Please be advised that the National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch into the early morning hours. Along with the watch, there is a possibility of severe storms developing with possible localized flooding from heavy rains, severe thunderstorms with damaging wind gusts and large hail. The City is encouraging residents to stay aware of local forecasts and be prepared to act quickly if storm warnings are issued. Current conditions can be found at www.weather.gov.

In anticipation of today’s predicted storm event, the Streets Division has prepared pallets of sandbags for resident pick-up and use. There are additional sandbags, shovels, and sand available for residents to fill if necessary. These materials are available in the parking lot of the Public Works Garage.

Low-lying areas and inlets have been checked, and several cycles of City street sweeping have been completed. Residents can assist the City by helping to keep inlets clear of debris.
