Throw Nation, an American fare restaurant featuring guided, customized experiences for guests including Axe Throwing, the Balls in a China Shop Game Show, Beersbee, Foot Bowling, and Stump among other amusements is hoping to open their next location at the site of the former Arena Restaurant (630 W. Lake St.). Proprietor Marty Parker, the man behind Chicago's popular GameShow-GameShow, multiple escape rooms, and eleven other established axe throwing businesses across the US is excited to bring his Throw Nation concept to Elmhurst. Their online booking system allows guests to book a custom experiences weeks in advance while at the same time catering to walk-in guests.  Perfect for competitive socializing and corporate events, Throw Nation offers something for everyone at every skill level, luring guests with the promise of action oriented evenings with "nail biting moments, knee-slapping fun, and cheers of victory."

The business is currently in the liquor license process; those participating in axe throwing would be limited to no more than two glasses of beer or wine during the course of the 1.5 hour excursion. Throw Nation operates under strict safety guidelines with one trained employee for every 12 axe throwing participants; the "Axe-perts" guide participants through a step by step process from entering the range until their turn is finished with permission needed for each step of the process. Guests are not allowed to enter the range if they are intoxicated. Upon completion of the liquor license process Throw Nation plans to begin build out of the restaurant with the hopes of opening by September 1, 2019.

A Culver's franchisee desiring to bring Culver's to the north York Corridor has made application with the corporate office to bring the popular restaurant to Elmhurst. The next phase in moving the process forward is to seek zoning approvals from the City for the required drive-thru and signage. Culver's is a family-favorite restaurant known for their butter burgers, Wisconsin cheese curds, and fresh frozen custard. In addition to those favorites, Culver's features center-of-the-plate entrees, sandwiches, and an ever changing menu line-up packed with a variety of great taste! Culver's plans to demolish the existing on-site building, a former Burger King, and open a new restaurant on the site in early summer 2019.
