Elmhurst Police are currently searching the area of North & Larch for a subject who escaped from police custody.

He is described as: Male/Hispanic, 38 years old, 5'08, 180 lbs wearing a yellow shirt and red pants. He may be handcuffed. Anyone seeing this person is asked to call 9-1-1.

POLICE HAVE LOCATED THE OFFENDER AND HE WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY WITHOUT INCIDENT AT 10:15 p.m. FORMAL CHARGES ARE PENDING.

UPDATE: Police have discontinued the search of the area and believe that the suspect is no longer in the immediate vicinity. The suspect was initially in custody for retail theft. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police at 630-530-3050.
