History of the Comprehensive Plan
The 2009 Comprehensive Plan, adopted by the City Council in 2009, updates the City's previous Comprehensive Plan, originally adopted in 1990. The 2009 Plan identifies changes that have occurred in the community since the 1990 Plan, and explores new ideas to move the community into the future. It reviews the City's land use and development direction of the past, and focuses on recommendations to meet current and future needs.
The Comprehensive Plan addresses neighborhoods, community development, and conservation needs. It assesses improvement possibilities for City infrastructure, transportation, transit, community facilities, jobs, and economic development.
In short, the Comprehensive Plan serves as the City's official road map for directing private and public investments based on community aspirations. The City's Downtown Sector Plan, adopted in 2006, is also part of the Comprehensive Plan.
Thank you to everyone that participated in the Comprehensive Plan process from November 2006 through March 2009. This process provided full and ample opportunities for citizens to participate in their community.
