Elmhurst, IL — The Senior Citizens Commission honored exceptional and outstanding senior volunteers at a ceremony held on September 28, 2017. Award recipients were recognized for their shown commitment, kindness and generosity through selfless efforts and dedication that provide comfort and relief to the lives of the less privileged and most vulnerable. 13 outstanding individuals were recognized for rendering stellar public service to Elmhurst residents. These individuals do behind the scenes work, and never seek recognition for all that they do to help make our city the best it can be and what it is today- a great place to live.
Senior Citizen Commission Chair, Cathy Jordan gave a short summary of each of the award recipients recognizing their accomplishments. Mayor Steve Morley thanked them for all that they do. The “2017 Outstanding Senior Citizen Service Award” was awarded to Celestia Boughner and Wayne Hoffman. The 11 individuals awarded "2017 Senior Service Award" include: Matthew Geraldi, Emil Haddad, Gail Menconi, Mary Ellen Milos, Charlotte Mushow, Brian Murphy, Ann Pasnick, Ed Ronne, Joyce Ruchti, Terry Walden, and Francis Wenig.
Many lives have been brightened by the positive spirit of these senior citizens. Congratulations and thank you to all of the award recipients!
