Elmhurst Police Searching For Suspects Involved in Hit & Run Crash


Elmhurst Police are currently investigating a motor vehicle crash that occurred in the area of West Ave & Gladys in Elmhurst where the occupants fled from the crash on foot.
At Approximately 5:00 a.m. on Monday November 27, 2017 Elmhurst police officers responded to a report of a burglary to garage. As officers arrived they attempted to stop a vehicle it fled from police and struck a police squad car at West and Gladys. Several suspects fled on foot E/B on Fremont.
At this time Elmhurst police officers along with assistance from surrounding police agencies and police K-9 dogs are searching the area for the suspects who are described as:
1 male/black in his teens with short hair wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt
1 male/black in his teens thin build
There is a significant police presence in the area. Anyone with information is asked to immediately contact 9-1-1.

Elmhurst Police Have Three Suspects in Custody For Overnight Crime Spree

Elmhurst Police have three suspects in custody for investigation of Burglary and Auto Theft that occurred in north Elmhurst.

On Monday, November 27, 2017 at 5:00 a.m. Elmhurst police officers responded to the area of 600 Fay for a report of a prowler in the garage. Responding officers observed two vehicles leaving the area and attempted to stop the cars. Both vehicles fled and struck a marked squad car in front of 429 West Ave., and the suspects fled the scene on foot. It has been learned that the vehicles were stolen from Villa Park & Elmhurst.

Elmhurst Police officers established a perimeter and with the assistance of surrounding police agencies began a systematic search of the area. The suspects were subsequently located at: 463 W. North Ave, North Ave & Ridgeland, and 400 block of West Ave. Police have recovered a loaded handgun from one of the suspects and are still looking for a fourth suspect who is believed to have left the area.

This investigation remains ongoing and at this point, it is believed that the suspects may have been entering unlocked cars and garages in order to steal items of value and cars with keys in the ignition.

Elmhurst Police have 2 out of 3 suspects in custody. The third suspect is describes as a male/black in his teens of thin build with short hair wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt. The suspect was last seen around the Elmhurst Post Office. Police have formed a perimeter around the area and are looking for the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to immediately contact 9-1-1.
